Bengaluru: Renowned artist Bharati Sagar returns with a solo exhibition titled “A Tryst with Nature” — a heartfelt, imaginative exploration of the environment and our connection to it, set to take place at the MKF Museum of Art on Lavelle Road, Bengaluru. Running from June 21st to July 2nd, 2025, this showcase invites viewers into a world where art, fantasy, and ecological consciousness coalesce.

Rooted in a lifelong artistic journey that began in 1949, Sagar’s new body of work departs from the ‘lofty’ imaginary figures of her past to bring forth more grounded, earthy subjects. Through figurative storytelling, her works stir emotions of joy, peace, and wonder — each piece calling upon the viewer to reconnect with nature as a kindred spirit.
From Masonite board to aluminium sheets, iron dust to citric acid, Bharati Sagar’s mastery lies in her fearless experimentation with mediums. Her latest creations use dry pastels, charcoal, acrylic, and oil pigments on both paper and canvas, resulting in textured compositions that are as technically profound as they are emotionally resonant.

Sagar has exhibited widely across India and the world — from Kolkata to Miami — and her accolades include multiple state and national-level awards, most recently the Lifetime Achievement Award for Women in the Arts and Letters at Bangalore Habba 2024.
As art historian Ashrifi Bhagat says, “Bharati maintains a close relation with illusionism, narrative, and the performative qualities of art… Her use of negative space and abstraction brings a quiet power to her compositions.”
Whether you’re an art lover, environmental enthusiast, or someone simply seeking moments of reflection, “A Tryst with Nature” is a must-visit.
