San:Qi’s Pan-Asian Feast, A Flavourful Adventure at Four Seasons Bengaluru

Spread the love

Bengaluru: I recently embarked on a culinary escapade at Far & East, the chic Asian brasserie nestled within the Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru, and boy, was it a delicious journey! The occasion? The highly anticipated San:Qi food festival, show-casing the culinary brilliance of Chef Lin Lin Yang from Four Seasons Mumbai. Running from August 23rd to September 1st, 2024, this event promised an unforgettable fusion of authentic Chinese flavours with a contemporary twist, and it certainly delivered!

A Welcoming Oasis

From the moment I stepped into Far & East, I was greeted by an ambiance that felt like a tropical getaway. The restaurant’s décor is a delightful mix of vibrant rainforest themes and sophisticated elegance—think lush patterns and warm lighting that set the stage for a cozy yet upscale dining experience. It was the perfect backdrop for the culinary adventure that awaited.

Starters That Set the Stage

Our gastronomic journey began with a parade of starters that were nothing short of spectacular. The Spicy Sichuan Pepper Chicken Salad was a thrilling kick-off—crisp, spicy, and just the right amount of heat. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavours and textures, a true testament to Chef Yang’s talent for balancing spice with subtlety.

Next up was the Chong Qing Chicken, which arrived with a bold punch of flavour. The spiciness was vibrant and invigorating, making it a standout dish. For those with a penchant for vegetarian options, the Quin Long Chinese Cabbage Salad was refreshingly light, offering a crisp contrast that was both satisfying and invigorating. And the Mock Duck? Absolutely crispy and delightful—proving that plant-based dishes can be just as satisfying as their meat counterparts.

Main Courses That Were Simply Divine

As we moved on to the main courses, my taste buds were treated to a series of culinary masterpieces. The Peking Duck was a highlight, with perfectly crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat that melted in my mouth. The traditional pancakes and hoisin sauce added a nostalgic touch, making it an irresistible classic.

The Stir Fried He-Fen Noodles were another winner, boasting a savoury, umami-packed sauce that clung to each strand of noodle. It was comfort food at its finest, with just the right amount of wok hei (that irresistible charred flavour you get from high-heat cooking).

For those who like their meals with a bit of spice, the Spicy Steamed Hunan Seabass was a revelation. The seabass was steamed to perfection, its delicate flavour enhanced by a zesty, spicy sauce that left me wanting more. The Sichuan Shui Zhu Beef was equally impressive, with tender beef slices swimming in a rich, aromatic broth that was both hearty and comforting.

The Crispy Chicken in Yu Xiang sauce rounded out the main courses, offering a delightful crunch paired with a tangy, spicy sauce that had just the right amount of kick. Each dish was crafted with such attention to detail that it was clear why Chef Yang has such a stellar reputation.

A Memorable Experience

The San:Qi food festival at Far & East is not just a dining event—it’s a full-fledged culinary adventure. Chef Lin Lin Yang’s artistry is evident in every dish, from the meticulously balanced flavours to the innovative presentations. The collaboration between San:Qi and Far & East is a testament to their commitment to delivering an extraordinary dining experience.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of Chinese cuisine or someone looking to explore new flavours, this festival is a must-visit. The blend of tradition and modern flair makes it a truly unique experience that stands out in Bengaluru’s vibrant food scene.
