Spread the love

Spread across a sprawling heritage bungalow in Central Bangalore, Bombay Borough is the ideal space for all your moods and moments, from drinks after work to meals with loved ones and an any-time catch-up session with friends. You would find that Bombay Borough epitomizes modern India through an explosion of hyper-local and regional flavors with its eclectic food and cocktails.

The bungalow encompasses a beautiful mango tree as its centerpiece, and the portico, the patio, and the outdoor open to nature create a unique and alluring all-day vibe. The beautiful Bougainvillea portico bar is located at the porch spilling over to the bar-centric relaxed outdoor, open to nature, alongside a roofed patio covered in poetic Mangalore tiles. The artistic rooms inside the villa are given an eclectic bohemian set up and lit by sizeable handmade brass lamps inspired by Kashmiri filigree. The hand-painted ceramic wall plates draw inspiration from Indian floral motifs and a balance of vintage artifacts and modern art to add an exotic charm to the space.

Whether guests want to dine Al Fresco out in the open air, sample the indoor comfort of our bar, or opt for indoor private dining – Bombay Borough is a multi-layered space with options to suit everyone.

The Bougainvillea Bar at Bombay Borough is a well-traveled one. An upscale bar version of Bombay Brasserie, the drinks menu at Bombay Borough focuses on tastefully curated cocktails that are themed on Indian regional ingredients and history, besides an extensive list of wine, gin, beers, and other spirits. Old favorites from across cultures sit comfortably alongside refreshing new concoctions.

The cocktails feature our unique homemade infusions, bitters, and tinctures with regional and global flavors which fit a diverse range of palettes. Desi Cocktails like Cochin Smoke, Royal Maharaja, Chowpatty Beach Lolly, and Darjeeling Nights are designed to reflect regional twists. The botanist-inspired Angrezi Gin & Tonics inspire British India with inclusions like Memsaab’s Pink Gin, Bengal Blossom, and Queen’s Necklace. The menu also features “Pauwas,” a concept rooted in Bombay’s local drinking dens, served in 180ml bottles paired with crunchy “Chakhnas” (Bar Nibbles) to munch on. Signature Pauwas include Jamun Bazaar, Mango Masti, and Santra Mantra.

The food menu is thoughtfully designed to take one on a thorough culinary journey across India, with dishes and ingredients from different parts of the country. One can find something for brunch, luncheon, evening drinks, or dinner. The menu focuses on flavors that have never been tried before, lending a modern twist to traditional recipes to suit today’s tastes. We use regionally sourced ingredients, like aam papad from Amritsar, kashundi from Bengal, thecha from Maharashtra, podi from Andhra, and malwani masala from the Konkan belt. After much research and trial, the menu showcases recipes from across India that are unique.

Small Plates include Avocado and Anar Pakwan Crisp, Gongura Chicken with Dosai, and Corn Scramble with Kadak Toast. Then there’s Parsi Keema Kulcha Flatbread, Iduki Roast Drumsticks, Mango Mustard Broccoli, Kolhapuri Lamb Chops, and Rajputana Murg Soola under Hot Plates & Grills. The Specials feature Malabar Chicken with Parotta, Mario’s Mango Prawns with Coconut Rice, Mutton Apricot Nawab Biryani. Finally, big Plates have options like Paneer Sirka Pyaaz, Tawa Street Chicken, Toddy Shop Fish Curry, and Smoked Jodhpur Mutton. The feast can end on a sweet note with sinful desserts like Anglo-Indian Bread Pudding, Mishti Doi Praline Cheesecake, or Amritsari Kulfi.

Shikha Nath, Culinary Director, Charcoal Concepts, says, “We’re very excited to launch this fresh concept in Bangalore. Being a young city with a flair for going out, we are confident that the city will love the experience. Expect to be taken on an awe-inspiring culinary journey across India, with food and drinks inspired from various regions of the diverse and culturally rich country. In addition, guests will be immersed in a welcoming Indo-chic bohemian vibe, perfect for catching up over good food, good cocktails, and great conversation!”
