Muro Cafè: A Bold New Take on Breakfast with Asian Flavors in the Heart of Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The city, known for its rich food culture, often kicks off the day with a classic south Indian breakfast—dosa, idli, sambar, and chutney—comforting, flavorful, and full of tradition. However, this weekend, I ventured beyond my usual breakfast order and took my taste buds on a unique journey at Muro Cafè, an Asian-inspired breakfast spot that is redefining mornings in the city.

Located on Museum Road, Muro Cafè is the latest addition to Bengaluru’s vibrant culinary scene, offering a fresh take on breakfast by blending traditional Asian flavors with Western staples. Upon walking in, the warm and inviting ambiance made it clear that this would be no ordinary breakfast experience. The bright yet cozy setting, combined with the hum of excited conversations, perfectly complemented the delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee that greeted me at the door.

Muro Cafè’s breakfast menu is a creative fusion of Thai, Cantonese, and other Asian regional dishes with a delightful twist on popular Western favorites. The standout for me was the Crab Omelette, a rich and creamy dish that had a perfect balance of flavors. The soft, silky texture of the omelette was elevated by the delicate sweetness of the crab, making each bite feel like a warm hug from the sea. This was comfort food at its finest, with an Asian twist I never knew I needed in my morning routine.

Next up was the Khao Man Gai, a dish that had me at the first bite. It’s a classic Thai street food dish, featuring poached chicken with fragrant jasmine rice, accompanied by a delicious dipping sauce. What sets Muro’s version apart is their creative twist—offering three different ways to enjoy it, including a Gai Yang-inspired sandwich. The grilled chicken used as a filling was smoky and tender, paired perfectly with the rice, making it an utterly satisfying meal.

As someone who loves a good sweet breakfast treat, I couldn’t resist trying the Hong Kong French Toast with Pandan Custard. The French toast, rich and crispy on the outside with a soft, custardy interior, paired beautifully with the fragrant pandan custard. It was the ideal balance of sweetness and texture.

The experience didn’t stop there. I rounded off my meal with a freshly baked Basque Cheesecake and a Fruit Danish filled with kra pao—a savory chicken satay and pork neck filling. The combination of the tangy cheesecake and the delicate sweetness of the Danish made for an unexpected yet delightful ending.

Of course, what better way to complement all this delicious food than with a cup of specialty coffee? Muro’s coffee is sourced from the best estates in Chikmagalur, featuring single-origin micro-lots that bring out the unique flavors of each bean. Whether you opt for a classic Americano or indulge in something a bit more adventurous like the Wild Honey Latte, you’ll be in for a treat. The quality of the coffee at Muro is a testament to their commitment to excellence, and I could taste the difference with every sip.

Having experienced the menu firsthand, I can say that Muro Cafè is not just a place for a typical breakfast. It’s an exciting culinary experience that transports you to different parts of Asia with every dish. Whether you’re a fan of traditional Asian breakfasts or just looking for something new to kick-start your weekend, Muro has something for everyone.

Niharika Raval and her team have done an exceptional job of combining familiar breakfast comfort with the bold, vibrant flavors of Asia. Muro Cafè is perfect for those looking to explore a new side of breakfast, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Muro Cafè serves breakfast every weekend from 9 AM to 12 noon, and it’s definitely worth setting your alarm for. It’s time to wake up to a new kind of breakfast—one that blends the best of Asia with a warm Bengaluru welcome.
