Bengali brunch favourites, celebratory bhoj menus and a Karnataka habbadoota bring the season’s flavours to Machan, Tamarind and Karavalli in Bengaluru.
A festive meal has its own rhythm. Someone insists on another helping, a favourite dish starts a conversation, and dessert arrives long after everyone has declared they cannot eat another bite. This Dasara, three restaurants across Taj and Vivanta hotels in Bengaluru are making room for precisely that kind of gathering.
At Machan, Taj West End, Bengal’s culinary traditions unfold over a Sunday brunch. Tamarind at Taj Bangalore celebrates Durga Puja and Dussehra with separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian bhoj menus. At Karavalli, Vivanta Bengaluru Residency Road, the focus turns to Karnataka, with a festive vegetarian thali that concludes with hayagriva, kai holige and Mysore Pak.
Together, the experiences offer different expressions of festive hospitality: generous spreads, familiar flavours and a reason to bring people around the same table.
Bengal’s Festive Bounty at Machan and Tamarind
On October 18, Machan at Taj West End presents An Ode to Bengal, a brunch inspired by the region’s enduring relationship with food, culture and tradition. Drawing on both Kolkata’s bustling lanes and the elaborate feasts of Bengal’s aristocratic households, the menu brings several culinary moods into one afternoon.

Among the highlights is Bhetki Paturi, delicately wrapped and steamed with fragrant mustard. Chingri Malai Curry brings richness to the spread, while Kosha Mangsho and Dak Bungalow Chicken Curry offer the deeper, robust flavours that invite a leisurely second helping.
The interactive showcases give the brunch its livelier side. A Jhal Muri Bazaar and Bengali Fish Fry House draw attention to the pleasures of Bengal’s snack culture, while freshly prepared Luchi & Aloor Dum bring a much-loved pairing to the table. Traditional accompaniments and cherished sweet endings complete the experience.
For diners who enjoy exploring several preparations over a long Sunday lunch, the format allows the meal to unfold at an unhurried pace.
An Ode to Bengal takes place at Machan, Taj West End, Bengaluru, on October 18, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Brunch is priced at ₹3,700 plus taxes with soft beverages, or ₹5,000 plus taxes with select premium beverages. For reservations, call +91 80 6600 3300.
At Tamarind, Taj Bangalore, Bengal’s festive food traditions find expression through a specially curated set menu available from October 16 to 20. Inspired by Durga Puja and Dussehra, the experience offers a choice between Aamish Bhoj and Niramish Bhoj, giving vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners their own considered festive spread.

The Aamish Bhoj includes Gondhoraj Lebu Shorbot, Kasundi Bhetki Fry, Kosha Mangsho and Murghi Jhol, alongside Basanti Pulao, Matar Shutir Kochuri and Aam Shotto Chutney. The selection moves through fragrant, piquant and richly savoury preparations, with accompaniments that make the meal feel complete.
The Niramish Bhoj brings together Beguni, Beetroot Cutlet, Dhokar Dalna, Sorse Chenar Muthia and Narkel Cholar Dal, accompanied by Basanti Pulao and Matar Shutir Kochuri. Its variety gives the vegetarian celebration an identity of its own, with different textures and preparations sharing the table.
For the sweet finish, Doodh Rosgolla and Bhapa Misti Doi continue the Bengali theme. Festive touches in the restaurant—including alpana motifs, brass accents and elements inspired by Durga Puja and Dussehra—extend the occasion beyond the plate.
With both lunch and dinner service, Tamarind offers a setting for a family bhoj, a Bijoya gathering or an evening meal with friends during the festive week.
The festive menu is available at Tamarind, Taj Bangalore, from October 16 to 20, 2026, between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM, and 6:30 PM and 11:00 PM. It is priced at ₹3,500++ per person. For reservations, call +91 91489 06663.
Karnataka’s Dasara Feast Comes Home to Karavalli
At Karavalli, Vivanta Bengaluru Residency Road, Dasara Habbadoota honours Karnataka’s festive dining traditions through a specially curated vegetarian lunch.

The experience draws on the spirit of Dasara as a time of devotion, gratitude and community. Food sits at the heart of that celebration, with an elaborate feast bringing families together. Karavalli translates that sense of abundance into a thali featuring regional preparations, each contributing something different to the meal.
The selection includes Southekai Koshambari, Goli Baje, Medu Vade, Ennegai and Ananas Mudhuli, alongside Sambar, Chitranna and Sona Masuri Rice. From the freshness of the koshambari to the fried bites and the variety of vegetable and rice preparations, the thali offers the pleasure of tasting several dishes within a single festive meal.
The closing course is particularly inviting. A Karnataka dessert platter brings together Hayagriva, Kai Holige and Mysore Pak, followed by Yelakki Banana and Beeda. For those whose festive memories are closely tied to these sweets, that finish may be reason enough to plan the lunch.
Available from October 17 to 21, Dasara Habbadoota offers a vegetarian celebration rooted in Karnataka’s food traditions, served in Karavalli’s warm dining setting.
Dasara Habbadoota is available at Karavalli, Vivanta Bengaluru Residency Road, from October 17 to 21, 2026, between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM. For pricing and reservations, contact +91 80 6660 4545.
